Dearest Bob

10/26/42

Lover, even the you've gone
My heart still beats on
With all my love for you
And for the things we used to do.

I miss your smile and gentle touch,
The caress that I loved so much,
And all the little pleasantries
That made life flow with smooth and ease.

The recall of all these things
And the joy that we two had
Now to my memory brings
Days when we both were glad.

Dearest Bob I loved you so,
And still do, you now must know;
Always will my love for you
Be something old and something new.

It seems that I must go alone
Without you now to call my own;
Yet alone I'll never be,
For you live within the heart of me.

I'd rather have you by my aide
As my best friend, lover, guide;
The way of life without you dear
Lacks much of its former cheer.

Still if such is God's plan
I can take it, yes I can;
Please give me your helping hand
Then perhaps I'll understand.
